What We Believe

Concerning The Bible
We believe the Bible comes from God and every word of it is inspired. It is our standard in all we say and do. We believe God speaks to us in the Bible. It is one of the greatest blessings God has given humanity – we can actually learn the thoughts of God by studying it.
(2 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Psalms 119:105)

Concerning God
We believe there is but one God eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
(Ephesians 1:13-14)

Concerning Jesus
We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and there is salvation in no other. Because of His great love, he chose to leave heaven, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, and was raised by the power of His Father. We also believe H
e will come again and take all of His followers to Heaven at the end of this age. (Colossians 1:13-23; Philippians 2:5-11)

Concerning Salvation
We believe we are saved only by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus. We are saved by grace through faith in Him. That faith involves more than intellectual consent to his Divinity – it involves repentance (a turning away from our past), confession (a public expression of loyalty) and baptism by immersion (a symbolic reenactment of His death, burial and resurrection). (Romans 6:1-11; Ephesians 2:1-10; James 2:19; Romans 10:9-11; Acts 2:38)

Concerning The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit, given by God to all believers at baptism, teaches, comforts, and empowers us, giving each follower diverse gifts, fostering unity, Christ-like character, and love among Christians.
(Romans 5:1-6; Romans 8; Ephesians 4:1-6; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 3:16; Ephesians 5:18)

Concerning The Church
We believe there is one church. She is the community of people who have trusted in Jesus to make them right with God. The church is empowered by the Holy Spirit to reach those separated from God and to mature those who have been restored to God through Christ.
(Ephesians 4:4-16)
